Ethel Ball, 89, Spencer died Thursday, September 23 at Spencer Municipal Hospital
Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. at Warner Chapel, Spencer, with the Rev. David Barker officiating
Burial will be in Garfield Cemetery, Webb, with Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements
Ethel Caroline (Smith) Ball, the daughter of James B. and Lillie (Buchanan) Smith, was born on June 6, 1904 in Graettinger. she received her early education in Emmetsburg. Following her schooling, she worked for a dentist in Spencer for two years
On November 7, 1925, Ethel married Sherman Ball. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in the Gillett Grove, Rossie and Superior on different farms. She also worked at Ellerbrocks, in Spencer and at the care centers in Emmetsburg and Spencer
Mrs. Ball was a member of the Methodist Churches in Spencer and Emmetsburg. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and five sisters
She is survived by her son, Sherman Ball of Southboro, Massachusetts; one grandchild, one great grandchild and three sisters, Deila Ferris of Spencer; Ruth Mohr of Royal and Esther Roach of Greenville
