Services for Henry William Wilken, 69 of Everly will be 11 a.m., Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church, Everly. The Rev. Roger Hanson will officiate at the services
Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly, Iowa
Casket Bearers will be Robert Franker, Marvin Schmidt, Gordon Wilken, Gar Rafdal, Thomas; Goeken and Robert Goeken
Mr. Wilken died Wednesday at a Sioux Falls, South Dakota hospital
The son of Herman and Anna (Bokker) Wilken, he was born March 31, 1917, in Monticello, Indiana. His family moved to the Everly area, when he was young, and it was there he received his education. After graduating from high school in 1935, he began farming
Mr. Wilken entered the military on May 12, 1942 and served with the Army. While participating in the campaigns of India Burma, the China Offensive and Central Burma, he received three Bronze Stars. He was discharged as a Master Sergeant on November 20, 1945 and returned to farming near Everly.
On October 3, 1953, he married Marciel Meyer in Everly. They made their home in that community where Mr. Wilken was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, VFW, American Legion and the DAV.
He continued to farm until retiring due to ill health.
The Wilkens spent a portion of their time in Arizona and in August of 1972, Mr. Wilken became a resident of Northshire
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Ann Janette Wilken of Everly; three brothers, John, Fred and Herman, all of Everly; and four sisters, Lena Schmidt of Spencer, Gertrude Bender of Cedar Rapids, Helen Wilken of Everly and Louise Dougal of Lake Park.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister
The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements
