Services in memory of Fred Otto Wieben were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 30,1995, at the United Methodist Church of Hartley. Dr. Carl Klein officiated.
Casket bearers were William Woodall, Steve Rogne, Don Warburton Elmer Witt, Keith Weber and Jerry Hoist.
Interment was in Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly.
Wamer-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Fred Otto Wieben, the son of John and Katie Steffen Wieben, was born November 19, 1906, near Everly, Iowa. He was raised on a farm approximately five miles northeast of Everly and received his education in country schools in Clay County.
On June 5, 1929, Fred married Opal Fanning in Reinbeck, Iowa. Following their marriage, they farmed many years on a farm 1 1/2 miles north of Everly. Fred raised hogs and fattened calves from his own calf herd. They moved into Hartley, Iowa in 1963 and while living in Hartley, he was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Fred and Opal enjoyed many trips and have fond memories of these trips.
Mr. Wieben passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Sunday, August 27, 1995, at the age of 88.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; one daughter-in-law, Carol; and one grandson, Bruce.
Fred is survived by his wife, Opal of Hartley; one son, John Wieben of Wildwood, Florida; one daughter, Mary Ann Johnson of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; as well as other relatives and friends.
