Services for Mervin James Walton, 72 of Everly will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Everly. The Rev. Emmanuel Das will officiate at the service
Mr. Walton died Tuesday at Spencer Municipal Hospital.
Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly
Casket bearers will be Bill Zesiger, Walter Lammers, Archie Berends, Jerry Holst, Ed Ferguson and Russell Hughes
Honorary casket bearers will be Jack Besaw, James VanderGaast and Allen Lowe
He was born February 14, 1916 to Arthur and Jennie (Butterfield) Walton in Clay County. His early childhood years were spent in Minnesota, where he moved to with his parents. he attended country schools there
Mr. Walton married Hazel Morris, September 30, 1937 in Cotter, Arkansas. They moved to Everly in 1954, where he ran a feed grinder for nearly 25 years and drove the school bus for seven years
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Everly and was a past member of the Masonic Lodge in Everly
Survivors include his wife; one son and his wife, James and Sheryl of Sumter, South Carolina; two daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and Bob O'Hara of Spencer and Elizabeth and Steve Berends of Everly; eight grandchildren; one brother, Boyd of Everly; and one sister, Delorna Tucker of Mountain Home, Arkansas
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers
