Etta Thiessen, 86, Everly, died Saturday at the Spencer Municipal Hospital
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly with the Rev. Lee Sather officiating
Casket bearers will be Larry Thiessen, Richard Thiessen, Dale Scharnberg, Ervin Ott, Eldo Scharnberg and Wesley Thiessen
Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly and the Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements
The daughter of Charles and Lizzie (Kiebach) Scharnberg, she was born August 14, 1902, near Everly. Her childhood years were spent in Everly and it was there that she received her early education. She continued her schooling in Cedar Rapids, where she received a teaching certificate. She returned to the Everly Community and taught in Waterford Township for three years
She married Mearl (Mike) Thiessen on February 5, 1930, in Spencer. Throughout most of their marriage they farmed in the Everly area and it was not until 1963 that they moved into Everly
Mrs. Thiessen was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church in Everly
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, seven brothers and three sisters
Survivors include several in laws, four cousins and several nieces and nephews
