Raymond John William Schuknecht, 65, of Everly, died Friday at Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls after a brief illness.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, in Hope Lutheran Church at Everly. The Rev. Paul Lemke officiated.
Military services were by the Everly American Legion Post 414
Casket bearers were Paul Feldotto, John Boetel Jr., Jim Daley, Verdon Schmidt, Bruce Schuknecht and Steven Schuknecht
Honorary bearers were John Droll, Harley Knapp, Doug Pingel, Max Miller, Charles Pemble and Ted Fischer
Burial was in Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly.
The son of Herman and Anna (Pries) Schuknecht. Mr. Schuknecht was born on Nov. 27, 1917, at Paullina. He received his education in country and parochial schools in the area, entered the military in 1943 and served with the Army during World War II. Following his discharge he returned to Paullina.
He married Ethel Boetel on June 6, 1943, at Hartley. The couple lived in Paullina three years. In 1946, they moved to Everly where he worked for Kenyon Plumbing until 1962,
and then started his own pump repair business.
He worked at Lone Tree Cemetery from 1973 to 1981.
He was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. He also served on the Everly Volunteer Fire Department for 31 years
Survivors include his wife; a brother, Delbert of Linn Grove; three sisters, Nora Feldotto of Paullina, Mrs. Mildred Guthridge of Kingsley and Mrs. Earl (Norma) Kluender of Cresco.
