Funeral services for Jacoba Hirt Schulze, 77, were held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the Hope Lutheran Church, Everly. The Rev. Roger Hanson officiated and burial was in the Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly
Ronald Erkes, Randy Newkirk, Joel Hartmann, Douglas Geerdes, John Geerdes and Joe Geerdes were the casket bearers
Weldon Diers, Alan Diers, Dale Geerdes, and Dean Geerdes were honorary bearers
The daughter of Jacob and Alida (Stientjes) Erkes. Schulze was born February 3, 1906 in Sheldon
She married Carl Hirt on October 10, 1923 in Sibley and they lived in northwest Iowa and California.
He died in 1965
A resident of Everly since 1976, she married Stillman M. Schulze on November 19, 1973 in Everly. They continued to live in Everly, where she was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church,
Since March, 1981, she has been a resident of St. Luke's.
Her second husband died in 1981
Schulze died Sunday at the Spencer Municipal Hospital.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husbands, five brothers and two sisters
Survivors include two daughters, Donna (George) Diers, San Diego, California and Ellen (Edwin) Geerdes, Everly; one stepdaughter, Nancy (Richard) Rekart, Lincoln, Nebraska; seven grandsons; four great grandchildren; two step grandchildren, one brother, Jacob Erkes, Sheldon; and two sisters, Bena Van Diepen, Oregon and Alida Koole, Sheldon
The Warner Funeral Home was in charge of the service arrangements
