Services for Peter Hans Schmidt, 81, of Spencer and formerly of Everly, will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. Pastor Roger Hanson will officiate in Everly
Pallbearers will be Walter Goeken, Arvin Schmidt, Dale Ott, Orlin Ott, Bob Franker and Gordon Wilken
Schmidt was born July 27, 1898 in Clutier, the son of Henry and Wiebke (Tams) Schmidt. He moved with family to Everly in 1902, where he received his education. Schmidt worked as a farm hand before farming on his own near Everly
He married Lena Wilken in Hartley on February 11, 1924. They farmed near Everly for a short time, moving to four miles south of Royal and later retiring to Everly in 1931.
Schmidt was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church
He died Tuesday at the Longhouse in Spencer
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Lois and Donald; and two brothers
Schmidt is survived by his wife, Lena of Everly; one son, Marvin of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Ott of Spencer, Mrs. Vena Ketelsen of LaVerne, California and Mrs. Ann Martin of Valley Center, California; and four brothers, Chris of Cleveland, Georgia, Harry of Vista, California, Frank of Tavares, Florida and George of Hemit, California
The Warner Funeral Home is in charge of the service arrangements
