Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Dec. 19 for Anna Koehnk. Pastor Roger Hanson officiated at the services at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly.
Casket bearers were Robert Petersen, Roman Wieseler, Scott Klett, Mark Klett, Larry Koehnk and Scott Koehnk.
Interment was at the Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly, Iowa.
Anna Christina Koehnk, the daughter of Hans and Margaret Elizabeth (Bergholz) Bielfeldt, was born February 23, 1888, in Norderstapel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Her parents died when Anna was very young, and she moved to a neighbor's home where she lived until reaching the age of 14.
Anna's early schooling was received in Germany, and upon completion, she worked for a short time before making the trip to the United States with her brother, John. She arrived in New York, and by train traveled to Ruthven where she made her home with her sister on a farm near Dickens.
Anna was married to Otto Koehnk on January 16, 1907 and following their marriage they moved to a farm south of Moneta where they spent three years. They farmed west of Royal and east of Moneta before beginning farming in the Everly area.
Following Otto's death on July 21, 1942, she moved into Everly.
Mrs. Koehnk was confirmed in the Lutheran faith while she was still a young girl in Germany and she continued in her faith as a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Everly.
Mrs. Koehnk passed away on December 17, 1980 at the Hartley Hospital, at the age of 92 years, nine months and 24 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband. Otto, Sr.; two sons, Melvin and Walter; three brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Koehnk is survived by two sons and their wives. Otto and Edna Koehn and Raymond and Alvena Koehnk, all of Everly; four daughters and their husbands, Hilda and Gus Petersen, Wilma and Norman Froehlich and Betty and Curtis Runkle, all of Everly and Jeannine and Duane Klett of Corydon, Iowa; 13
grandchildren, 16 ,great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Tillie Thee of May City and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Anna Bielfeldt of Terril, other relatives and friends.
