Funeral services for Hilda Christina Jessen, 92 Everly will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly with the Rev. Harold Norheim officiating
Casket Bearers will be Eldo Scharnberg, Don Steffen, Dale Scharnberg, Roger Ginger, Cliff Dehrkoop and Jim Mills
Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly and the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of arrangements
The daughter of Peter and Mary (Ketelsen) Matthiessen, she was born March 12, 1897 in Hardwick, Minnesota. Her childhood years were spent in South Dakota and Iowa with much of her early education being received in O'Brien County
She married Frank Jessen on November 27, 1917 in Everly. Following their marriage they farmed for a number of years in Waterford Township
They moved to Everly in 1934, where Mrs. Jessen has since made her home
She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church for many years
Although confined to her home for a number of years, she remained actively involved with the interests of her family. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and keeping busy with her needlework. Her interests in her surroundings also kept her in tune with community events
Mrs. Jessen was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Donald; one grandson and four brothers
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Steffen of Everly; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one sister, Viola Scharnberg of Everly
