Funeral services for Ella Margaret Ott, 89, of Spencer and formerly of Everly will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. Officiating will be Pastor Roger Hanson and burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly
Casket bearers will be Arvin Schmidt, Vernon Meyer, Dick Schmidt, Clarence Scharnberg, Eldon Scharnberg and Allen Ott
The daughter of Henry and Adelbert (Tams) Schmidt, Ott was born November 19, 1892, in Tama County. Her family move to Clay County in 1902 and she received her education in the country schools.
She married Walter W. Ott on January 2, 1918, at her parent's home in Everly. following their marriage, they farmed in the Hartley and Everly areas until 1940, when they moved to Hartley. She returned to Everly in 1962 and moved to Spencer in 1966, where she lived with her daughter.
Ott was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Everly
She died Monday at the Spencer Municipal Hospital
Ott was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1957; four brothers, John, Pete, Chris and Henry; and one sister, Mrs. Alvena Ketelsen
Survivors include one daughter, Esta Ott of Spencer; two sons, Orlan Ott and Dale Ott, both of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Harry Schmidt of Vista, California, Frank Schmidt of Travares, Florida and George Schmidt of Springville, Utah and one sister, Mrs. Anna Martin of Valley Center, California.
The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of the service
