Raymond J. Mayhew, a. resident of Iowa for about forty years, passed away at the hospital at Cheroee, Iowa, Saturday afternoon, May 26 at 3:30. Mr. Mayhew had been in poor health for six years. At the time of his death, which was caused from psychosis with Huntington's chorea, Mr. Mayhew was 71 years, 4 months and 20 days old.
Funeral services were held at the St. Louis Catholic church at Royal, Iowa, yesterday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. Father Wortman officiated.
Burial was made in Tremello cemetery.
Raymond J. Mayhew was born in Iroquois county, Illinois, February 6, 1857. When he was thirty years old he moved from Illinois to Clay county, Iowa, whore ho lived until his illness six years ago.
On September 8, 1896, at Spencer, Iowa, Mr. Mayhew was united in marriage to Evelyn Mario Struder. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Mayhew moved on a farm southwest of Royal and lived there until his illness.
Mr. Mayhew is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Mayon of Everly, three sisters, Mrs. Sam DeMars of Sutherland, Mrs. Ted Richard of Royal and Mrs. Josephine Henalt of Sioux City, three brothers, Frank of Morris, Minnesota, Albert of Royal, Calvin of Spencer, Iowa, and numerous friends.
