Funeral services for Rodney Miller, Aurelia, were held Thursday, July 15, at the United Methodist Church in Peterson.
Burial was in Barnes Township Cemetery in Linn Grove.
Rodney E. Miller, the son of Peter and Mae Booth Miller, was born June 24, 1927, in Marcus,
Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. His early education was at the
Meriden Schools and he later graduated from Marathon High School in 1944.
Rodney entered the military, serving in the U.S. Army until the time of his discharge in 1947. Following his discharge, he returned to farming.
Rodney married Nila Meyer on August 23, 1950, at the United Methodist Church in Marathon. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Marathon,
Ruthven and Aurelia areas until retiring in Aurelia in 1998: Rodney felt close to nature by fanning and he enjoyed fishing, playing cards and just visiting with his friends and neighbors, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
On Monday, July 12, 1999, Rodney died suddenly at the Buena Vista County Hospital in
Storm Lake, at the age of 72.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents in law; Albert and Delia Meyer and his son, Randy, on June 9,1999.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Nila, of Aurelia; one son and his wife: Corey and Nancy of Omaha, NE; daughter-in-law Pat of LaVista, NE; two grandsons; one sister and her husband: Wanette & Clarence Movall of Alia, IA; one brother, Eldon of Alton, IA; one brotherin-law and his wife: Bill & Charlotte Meyer of Ruthven, IA; sisters-in-law and their husbands: Marlyss & Bill Bryant of Larrabee, I A; Nola & Glen Carlson of Storm Lake; Laura
and Mariin Weier of Linn Grove as well as other relatives and friends
