Death came suddenly and quietly to Emil W. Sebastian, 45 highly esteemed resident of Clay county, who died Saturday morning, March 5, 1932, at ten o'clock at his farm southwest of Spencer. Mr. Sebastian had left the house on his farm that morning to go to the barn, whistling and singing, apparently in the best of health. He spent the early morning hours at work in the barn with L. Hein, renter of the Sebastian farm. Mr. Hein was gone from the barn for about fifteen minutes and upon his return found
Mr. Sebastian had succumbed to a heart attack.
Emil William Sebastian, son of Emil and Hulda Sebastian, was born November 3, 1886, at Peru, Illinois, At the ago of five years, he moved with his parents to Shell Rock, Iowa, where they lived until in the spring of 1897. They then came to Spencer where they located on the home farm, southwest of Spencer, where he had since made his home.
His parents moved to Los Angeles, California, in, 1919 and are now residing at 406 North Kenmore Avenue. The death of their son was a severe shock to them. His mother is in poor health and will be unable to return to Iowa for the funeral services. The elder Mr. Sebastian arrived in Spencer Thursday for the services.
The deceased was a member of the Evening Shade lodge No. 312, A.F. & A.M., holding the office of Junior Warden at the time of his death. He also was a member or officer of a number of the local branches of the lodge.
The Reverend B.J. Trickey, pastor of the First Congregational church, will conduct the funeral services to be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Jones Funeral Home in Spencer and at two o'clock at the Congregational church.
The Masonic Order, of which he was a member, will have charge of the last rites at the grave.
Pallbearers 'will be Harry Breidinger, Thomas C. Hanna, Edward McArdle, John M. Larsen, Herman Jordan and Walter Lachner.
Interment will be made at Riverside cemetery.
Those who mourn his departure are his parents, three sisters, Ida J. (wife of E. B. Warren) of Imperial, California, Lula (wife of Henry Kaus) of Spencer, and Mrs. Emily McCleary of Windom, Minnesota, one brother, Arthur A. Sebastian of Chicago, Illinois, a number of other relatives and a host o friends
