Carl F. Walrath, 79, of Peterson, passed away at the Spencer Municipal Hospital on Monday, November 22. Services were held in his memory on Wednesday, Nov. 24 at 2:00 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Peterson, Iowa, with Rev. Matt Leach as the officiating clergyman.
Mrs. Jimmie Lew Brown was the organist and Mrs. Charles Plagman the soloist. Pallbearers were Wayne Reese, Dean Reese, Robert White, Herbert Bailey, Robert Wetherell and Walter Terril. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Leona Rohrbaugh and Mrs. Lydia Snyder.
Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Peterson, Iowa, with the Baumgarten Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Walrath was born Aug. 22, 1892, in Farmer City, Ill., and moved to Rembrandt at the age of nine. On July 11, 1916, he was married to Velma Tillinghast. A resident of the Peterson area since 1909, he retired from farming in 1943 and moved into Peterson.
Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Florence Abbot of Anaheim, Calif.; three sons, Wayne of South Pasadena, Calif.; Warner Walrath of Primghar; and Keith of Gladstone, Ore.; two brothers, Pearl of Carroll and Guf [sic?] of Spirit Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Koons of Storm Lake and Mrs. Burt Wooge of Park Rapids, Minn.; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
