An unusually sad death occurred on Wednesday, October 5, at the Spencer hospital when Mrs. Zita Berberich Gross, wife of William Gross, died after a short Illness. A few days before Mrs. Gross had submitted to Caesarean operation at the hospital from which she did not rally. The baby daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Gross only lived a few hours.

Zita Emma Berberich was born at Chatsworth, Illinois, December 6, 1897 and at the time of her death was twenty-three years and ten months of age. She was the second eldest daughter of Mr. And Mrs. John Berberich and came with her parents from Illinois to Royal about ten years ago She grew to womanhood In the Royal neighborhood and on June 14, 1920 became the bride of William Gross, a promising young man of Royal.

The marriage took place at the Catholic church in Royal, of which she was a faithful member as long as she lived. Besides her husband and parents Mrs. Gross is survived by two sisters Mrs. John Gross of Greenville, and Miss Maria Berberich of Royal. She is also survived by two brothers John and Henry Berberich.

Mrs. Gross was one of the highly esteemed young women of the neighborhood in which she lived. Her friends pay her the following tribute "Zita was of a loving, sunny disposition and loved by all who were fortunate enough to make her acquaintance. She had lived in our midst and her short life speaks well for itself. She represented the highest type of womanhood. She never deviated from the path of duty and her sense of honor was a most lofty one. She carried the riches of God within herself. The funeral services were held from St. Louis Catholic church In Royal on Saturday morning at ten o'clock, in the charge of the Rev. Father Wendl. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Austman, Forest, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Trunk, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Trunk, Francis and Miss Ella Trunk, Worthington, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Han Byggere and Mrs. N. J. Muller. Windom, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. D.C. Toohey and daughter LeRaine, Milford, Iowa.
