Miss Dorothy Ann Gross, 13 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gross of near Royal, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 8, in the Spencer hospital where she was taken the previous Sunday. Death was caused from peritonitis following a ruptured appendix. She had been ill one week. Funeral services are to be held Friday morning, Jan. 11, at 10 o'clock from the St. Joseph church in Royal. Rev. Frank Schultes is in charge. Burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery.

Dorothy Ann was born July 6, 1921, at the present Gross farm home located two miles south and two and a half miles west of Royal, and at the time of her death was 13 years, 6 months and 2 days old. Last June she graduated from the Clay Center school In Clay township and was a freshman in the Royal Consolidated school when she was taken ill. Surviving besides her parents are one sister, Miss Louise, age 1 1/2 years, two grandmothers, Mrs. Joseph Gross of Spencer and Mrs. L. T. Hjelm of Royal, six uncles, Gus Gross of Jackson, Minn., William and Clarence Gross of Royal, Leo Gross who is stationed in a C. C. camp in Missouri and John "Gross of Greenville, also two aunts, Mrs. Albert Maurer and Mrs. F. G. Carlsen of Spencer.
