Lola Virgina Long Meyerdirk, the daughter of George and Amelia (Zaiser) Mayou, was born August 1, 1923 in Everly, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Everly, where she received her education in country schools. She later completed her education at Lake Park High School.
She married Julius Dale Long on August 1, 1940 in Royal, Iowa. To this union five children were born: Sharon, Dale, Pat, Pam and Lynn. After their marriage, they made their home in Spencer, Iowa. Lola worked as a sales associate at Younkers for 25 years until her retirement. Dale passed away May 28, 1977.
Lola married Stanley Meyerdirk on January 27, 1979 in Spencer. After their marriage, they continued to live in Spencer. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Lola also enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling in her leisure time. She most recently had resided at the Primghar Care Center.
She passed away at Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar, Iowa on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the age of 92. Lola was preceded in death by her parents; her 1st husband, Dale Long; her 2nd husband, Stanley Meyerdirk; 2 sisters: Jean Osgood and Delores Clark; one brother, Gerald; son, Dale and a daughter, Sharon Rehan.
She is survived by three daughters: Patricia "Pat" Kilts and her husband, Von of Primghar, Pamela Green and her husband, Nick of Missouri and Lynn Kohn of Yankton, SD; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great- great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
