James Preston Long, age 73 and a resident of Denton, TX, born on April 13, 1937 in Spencer, Iowa to Julius and [Mary] Gladys [Martin] Long, passed away on April 4, 2011 at his home in Denton. James is a member of Chinn's Chapel United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Army in the Special Forces during Vietnam.

He is survived by wife, Charlotte Long; five children, [redacted]; and by thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Kay Long Finch.

A family visitation will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Flower Mound Family Funeral Home in Flower Mound, TX. Funeral services will b held on Friday at 10 am at Chinn's Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial with full military honors will be Monday, April 11 at 2 pm at the Eldora City Cemetery in Eldora, Iowa.
