IRMA VIOLA BLACKMER SELZER

Irma Viola Selzer, the
daughter of William and Mabel
McCown Blackmer, was
born Jan. 5, 1898, near
Peterson, la. Her early education
was received in a country
school near Peterson, and she
later attended school in Spencer.

Irma then returned to
Peterson where she taught
school for a number of years.
Irma was married to George
Conrad Selzer on June 7,1923,
in Cherokee. For many years
they farmed around Peterson,
moving near Everly in the
Spring of 1937. Following the .
death of her husband in 1959,
she remained on the farm for
a short time before moving
to Spencer. Since that time,
Spencer has been her home
and for nearly the past two
years she has been a resident
of St. Lukes Lutheran Home.

She was a member of Circle
No. 7 of Grace United Methodist
Church and Lydia Alden
Chapter of the Daughters of
the American Revolution.

Mrs. Selzer passed away on
Nov. 28, 1979, at the Spencer
Hospital at the age of 81 years,
10 months and 23 days. She .was
preceded in death by her parents,
her husband, two grandchildren,
two brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Selzer is survived by
six sons: George of Spencer;
Carl Charles and William all
of Everly; Kenneth of Greeley,
Col; and Ralph of Auburn,
California; three daughters,
Margaret (Mrs. Orton Hanson)
of Spencer; Barbara Willms of
Tulsa, Okla; and Donna
Louise-Mrs. Robert Pena of
San Fernando, Cal; also surviving
are 26 grandchildren,
11 great-grandchildren and
one sister, Beulah Blackmer of
Spencer, and a sister-in-law,
Ina Blackmer of Inglewood,
Cal; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held
on Friday Nuv. 30th at 10:am
at the Warner Funeral Chapel
in Spencer for Mrs. Irma Viola
Selzer.

Rev. Mark Sullivan was the
officiating clergyman.

Mrs. William Wendlandt
was the organist and accompanied
Ron Mills as he sang
"Beyond the Sunset" and
"Have Thine Own Way Lord".
Pall bearers were Darrel
Scharriberg, John Heuck, Elmer
Harker, DeanTfcutter,
Elmer Steven and Gerald Lake.
Interment was made at the
Oakland Cemetery near Peterson
with the Warner Funeral
Home in charge of the arrangments.
