Public memorial services for James Richard Farnes, 55, of Spirit Lake and formerly of Spencer will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Warner Chapel in Spencer. The Rev. Tom Balm will officiate

Mr. Farnes died Wednesday, June 6 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota

Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery in Spencer. Military services will be by the American Legion Glen Pedersen Post No. 1

The son of Herbert and Josephine Hansen Farnes, he was born May 2, 1935 in Bradley, South Dakota. His childhood years were spent in Minnesota and Iowa and he graduated from Spencer High School

Mr. Farnes married Paula Fikes in New Jersey. They lived in Syracuse, New York until moving back to Spencer in 1968. He worked as a machinist for Eaton Corporation.

He was preceded in death by his mother; his stepmother; his first wife; and one sister

Mr. Farnes is survived by his second wife, Wanda of Spirit Lake; his father, Herbert of Spencer, two sons, James and Mark and his wife, Cheryl all of Spencer; one daughter and her husband, Mickey and Kyle Dotson of Maple Hill Kansas; two granddaughters; three step children; Joe Huffman of Dubuque Jane Rebhuhbn of Pocahontas and Jim Huffman of Haleiwa, Hawaii; four step grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Gosche of Minneapolis, Minnesota and two brothers, Herbert Farnes, Jr. of Boise, Idaho and Allan Farnes of Albert Lea, Minnesota

The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements
