Funeral services will be held today, at 10:30 a.m. at First Congregational Church, Spencer, with the Revs. Robert Fleischmann and Harrison Dawes officiating
Masonic services will be conducted by Evening Shade Lodge #312 A.F. and A.M. of Spencer
Military services will be conducted by Glen Pedersen Post #1, American Legion, V.F.W. Clay County Post #3159, Spencer

Frank D. Edington, the son of Ira and Anna Townsend Edington, was born June 5, 1908 on a farm across from Harmony School. He received his early education in Spencer and graduated from Spencer High School. He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1931. He spent several years on active duty, serving his medical internship in the U.S. Army Medical Corps
He married Mary Reid King at Fort Des Moines in 1935. In 1937 he established a general practice in Spencer.
In 1941, Major Edington was called to duty with Army Air Force. He commanded several Air Force Station Hospitals, attended service school and organized the U.S. Army 112th General Hospital. Colonel Edington served as commander of his hospital in the ETO in the United Kingdom. In October 1946, he moved back to his general and family practice in Spencer
For the past four decades, Dr. Edington worked hard as a staff member toward the enlargement and betterment of the Spencer Municipal Hospital. He served on the school board for many years and on the Clay County Conservation Board since its beginning. He was a life member of the national, state and county medical societies and the Aerospace and Federal Aviation Medical Examiners. He was a member of the local Masonic Lodge and the Shrine. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion for many years, as well as the First Congregational Church. He retired from his medical practice in 1983
Mr. Edington was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Julia; and infant brother and his parents
He is survived by his wife, one son, Frank, Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Spencer; and two grandchildren
