October 26, 1990Genevieve Marie Dotson, 79 of Spencer, died Friday, October 26 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. The Rev. Timothy Schott will officiate
Casket Bearers; Steven Neville, Richard Neville, James Krage, Jason Krage, Jeffery Krage, Darren Dotson, Damon Dotson
Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer
Mrs. Dotson was born September 23, 1911, in Sac County to Joseph and Anna Foley Barry. She moved with her parents at an early age to Dickens and it was at the Lake Center School she received her education.
Following graduation in 1928, she attended A.I.B. in Des Moines from 1930 to 1934. She then returned to Spencer and worked for A&M Laundry from 1931 to 1934
On February 6, 1934, she married Elmer Dotson in Spencer. Following their marriage, they farmed in Meadow Township for 20 years and also in Sioux Township for nearly 20 years. For the past 17 years, the couple has lived in Spencer
While living in Spencer, Mrs. Dotson was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the Legion of Mary. She also worked at Johnson School for several years before retiring
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister
Mrs. Dotson is survived by her husband; three daughters and their husbands, Margaret and Richard Scroggin of Highland, California, Marilyn and Daniel Neville of Salter and Jeanette and Colonel Krage of Sioux City; one son and his wife, Jim and Sandra of Wahpeton; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Harmon of Spencer and Dorothy Deignan of Omaha, Nebraska; and one brother, Martin Barry of Waco, Texas
The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements
