Funeral services were held Monday, June 12, at Maple Grove Church of God, rural Sutherland, with the Revs. Michael Hyde, Anthony Pick and Ray Draper
Casket Bearers: Rod Peterson, Greg Toft, Paul Thompson, Larry Christensen, Greg Huberg, Ken Woolston
The flag presentation was conducted by Glen Pederson Post #1, American Legion, Spencer
Burial was in North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer
Richard Alan Deardorff, the son of Virgil and Margaret Becker Deardorff was born September 2, 1951 in Spencer.
He attended school at Clay Central and it was there that he received his early education and graduated from high school in 1973
Following high school he entered the military and was stationed in Europe until his discharge in 1973
On August 30, 1975, he married Teresa Ann Miller in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Mr. Deardorff attended Grace College of the Bible in Omaha, Nebraska from 1980-1983.
He then returned to the Royal Community where he resumed farming, as well as working at Monfort in Worthington, Minnesota
Mr. Deardorff was preceded in death by his grandparents
He is survived by his wife, three children, Zachery Alan, Hannah Marie and Paul Francis; five sisters, Suzanne Roberts and her husband, Dwight of Garthersburg, Maryland; Mary Louise Ziebell and her husband, Steven of Urbandale; Janelle Diamond and her husband, Ron of Chilcoot, California; Margery Deardorff of Apache Junction, Arizona and Patricia Oien and her husband, John of Omaha, Nebraska and his parents, Virgil and Margaret Deardorff of Spirit Lake
