Virgil Deardorff passed away February 20, 2010 and his lifelong partner of 63 years, Peggy Deardorff, passed away April 22, 2010. Since it was close in time to each other, a double Celebration of Life Mass will be held Friday, May 14, 2010 at 10:30 A.M., at St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal, Iowa.

1:30 P.M., Friday, May 14, 2010Margaret Deardorff (Peggy) was born on July 12, 1926 to George and Ida (Kreucher) Becker in St. Joe, Iowa. She graduated from St. Joe High School and attended Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa.
On February 4, 1947, she was united in marriage to Virgil Deardorff of Royal, Iowa. They raised six children on a farm 5 miles west of Royal. They semi-retired to Okoboji, then Spirit Lake and wintered in Mesa, Arizona. They have resided in Sun City, AZ for the past 11 years.
Margaret passed away in hospice in Sun City, Arizona.
Virgil preceded her in death by two months. They are having a double funeral in Royal, Iowa. They also lost their only son, Richard, in 1995 and oldest daughter, Suzanne, in 2007. She also had five sisters and eight brothers who have died.
Margaret was an accomplished artist, excellent cook and seamstress. She taught Catholic Education classes for 10 years and served as president, secretary and treasurer for various church activities. She loved to garden, grow flowers and play cards. She as a voracious reader. Even after losing her sight, she continued to listen to books on tape. Her good nature and loving kindness will be remembered by many.
Left to cherish her memories are four daughters: Mary Lou, Iowa; Janelle, California; Margery, South Carolina and Patricia in Nebraska. They have 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren so far. She is also survived by four sisters and four brothers.
