Orpha Maxine Binder was born, November 29, 1920 in Ida County, Holstein, Iowa to John and Lillie (Wiese) Rohlk. Orpha attended country school in Galva Township and graduated from Quimby High School in 1938.

On March 24, 1944, she married Norval Binder at Elk Baptist Church. They were blessed with four sons: David, Stephen, Randy and Brenton. They farmed west of Rossie, Iowa for 50 years after Norval returned from the Army during WWII.

They observed their 50th wedding anniversary in 1994. Orpha loved quilting and fancy work, and her flower garden was always her joy. She shared plants from her garden with many friends and family.

Orpha was a wonderful cook with her pies, potato salad, mashed potatoes/gravy and cinnamon rolls to name a few.

Orpha was very active in the Rossie United Church of Christ and the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. She was a 50-year member of the Lincoln Willing Workers Club and active with 4-H girl's club activities.

Orpha passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the age of 89.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillie Rohlk; her husband, Norval, (12-29-2000), her son, Randy and three brothers: Eldon, Robert and James Rohlk.

Those left to cherish her memory include sons: David and Kathy of Sioux City, IA, Stephen and Lori of LaQuinta, CA and Brenton of Grand Rapids, MI; eleven grandchildren: Chad, Todd, Grant, Ross, April, Kelsey, Zachary, Damon, Adam, Dana and Jason Binder; four step grandchildren; soon to be nine great grandchildren; five sisters: Zetta Nielsen, Jeanette Trimble, Joelle VerHoef, Phyllis Craig and Jane Johnson; three brother's: John, Kenneth and Gary Rohlk; many nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.
