January 30, 1990Dr. J.I. Conner, 89, Arnolds Park, died Tuesday, January 30, 1990 at Spirit Lake
Services were 2 p.m., Friday, February 2, at the First Lutheran Church, Milford. Rev. John Petersen officiated
Casket Bearers; Andrew Petersen, Daniel Petersen, Newkirk Lowery, Douglas Leiss, Robert Lomeland, Merle Petersen
Dr. Conner was born January 2, 1901 at Fayette County, Iowa to Isaac Newton and Elizabeth Hansberger Conner. He graduated from Elgin High School and attended Upper Iowa College at Fayette and the Palmer College of Chiropractic, after which he became a licensed chiropractor
He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the 5th Armored Division of the U.S. Army.
He married Laura Phillip, May 27, 1939, at Deer River, Minnesota. They lived at Grundy Center and moved to Spencer in 1947. They moved to Milford and then to Arnolds Park in 1960.
He was made a Mason in 1926 in Clermont Lodge 160 A.F and A.M. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Milford and the Gloaming Lodge A.F and A.M., Milford
He enjoyed fishing and game hunting
Survivors include his wife, Laura; one daughter, Valerie, Thermopolis, Wyoming; one sister, Winnifred Olson, Guttenberg; other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters
Burial was in the North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer
Baumgarten Funeral Home, Spencer was in charge of arrangements
