1984Lyle Ralph Clayton, 60, of Spencer, died Tuesday at his home.
Mr. Clayton the son of Ira and Luella Kreger Clayton was born March 5, 1924 in Aston Township near Onawa. His childhood years were spent in that community and it was there he received his early education.
After schooling, Mr. Clayton entered the military and served with the Navy during World War II
He married Geraldine PeLow in 1945
Mr. Clayton married Ruby Utley, July 24, 1954 in Jackson, Minnesota. They lived in Worthington until moving to Spencer in 1956
Mr. Clayton was a meat cutter at Spencer Foods for 23 years.
He was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Dickens American Legion
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kevin Clayton of Bethel, Alaska and Steve Clayton of Spencer; three daughters, Kathy Albright of Guthrie Center, Deb Koedam of Hartley and Linda Clayton of Spencer; 11 grandchildren, four brothers, Everette Clayton of Onawa, Robert Clayton of Whiting, Phillip Clayton of Phoenix, Arizona and Donald Clayton of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and one sister, Geraldine Bryan of Sioux City
Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday at Warner Chapel in Spencer. The Rev. Robert Cummings will officiate.
Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery
Casket Bearers; Milton (Muck) Roberts, Norbert Wimmer, Robert Hughes, Eric Tomlinson, Laverne Krengel, Robert Handy
The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements
