November 10, 1999Lewis Cole of Spencer, passed away Wednesday, November 10, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital at the age of 83
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Warner Chapel in Spencer, with the Rev. Kim Crummer officiating
Casket Bearers; Garrett Shoemaker, Chad Zmolek, Jeremy Zmolek, Norman Fick, Fritz Westphalen, Josh Daly, Steve Daly
Burial will be at North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer
Lewis Henry Cole, son of Vern and Elsie Elizabeth Steele Cole, was born April 4, 1915 in Cedar. His childhood years were spent in West Hartford, Connecticut, where he received his education
Following his schooling, Mr. Cole enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served during World War II from the years 1942 until his discharge in 1945, achieving the rank of Captain.
Following his honorable discharge, he married Marian Gutknecht
Mr. Cole married Mariel Berhow on August 27, 1966, Lancaster, Wisconsin. Following their marriage, they moved to Spencer, where he worked as a construction Superintendent at Spencer Construction for 30 years
He was a member of Glen Pedersen Post No. 1, American Legion in Spencer
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jeff Shoemaker and one sister, Mary Naverman
Mr. Cole is survived by his wife, Mariel of Spencer; one son Stephen and his wife, Cynthia Cole of Grand Junction, Colorado; two daughters, Cynthia and her husband, Douglas Zmolek of Johnston and Verna Leah and her husband David Shoemaker of Grand Junction, Colorado; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one step son James Berhow of Spencer; other relatives and friends
Warner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
