August 23, 1998Lorena was born on October 26, 1925, in Green County, Iowa to parents John and Bessie Conn Fry. She was raised in Iowa as a young girl and attended Iowa Center School.
Lorena married LeRoy Christiansen on September 10, 1942 at Plenty Wood, Montana. Four children were born to them; Edward, Dale, Gary and a daughter, Irene. LeRoy and Lorena farmed near Spencer, Iowa, then moved to Olivia, Minnesota and settled near Hazel Run, Minnesota, in 1953. Lorena worked faithfully at the side of her husband for many years. She moved to Granite Falls, Minnesota in the late 1970's. She worked part time at Kraydon (Victor Fluid Power) in Granite Falls in the Maintenance Department.
She was a faithful member of the Hazel Run Lutheran Church and was involved in various church activities including the Birthday Club and quilting. She had a love for making quilts, embroidery work and baking.
Lorena passed away Sunday, August 23, 1998 at her home in Granite Falls at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 29 days.
She is survived by her daughter and husband, Irene and Steven Black, of Hiawatha, Iowa and granddaughter, Deanna Black and great grandson, Logan. She is also survived by her twin sister, Loretta Walker of Portland, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons; Edward, Dale and Gary; husband LeRoy in 1981; grandson Eric Black; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services were Thursday, August 27, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. at Hazel Run Lutheran Church, Hazel Run, Minnesota. Officiant, Pastor Cynthia Hopp.
