Alberta Schipper Busby, 1920-1983

Funeral services were held on Friday Oct. 14th, 1983 at the First United Methodist in Yankton at 11 a.m. for Alberta Busby, age 62. Rev. Robert Semrad officiated.

Mrs. Busby passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 11th at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton after an extended illness.

Burial was made at the Oakland Cemetery near Peterson, Ia., at 3:30 p.m.

Memorial may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Busby was born Dec. 15th, 1920 at Orange City, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Van Duyn Schipper. She spent her early childhood in Orange City and attended schools in Morris and Ireton, Iowa. Mrs. Busby lived in many areas of Iowa, including Peterson, during that time as her father was a railroad employee.

She married Percy Busby on Aug. 16, 1947 in Minnesota. The couple moved to Yankton in 1964, where Mr. Busby was employed at Fullerton Lumber Co., as a bookkeeper.

Mrs. Busby was a sales clerk at Fantles from 1965 until illness forced her inactivity in 1983. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Yankton.

Surviving are a son, Jerry, Yankton; a daughter, Nancy (Mrs. Mark) De Domenic, Adak, Alaska; three brothers, Martin and William, Jr. both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Theodore of O'Conto, Wisc.; two sisters, Myrtle (Mrs. Lester) Bissett of Madison, Minn., and Patricia (Mrs. Robert) Craig of Norwalk, Calif., and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1968 and a brother.
