OLD SETTLER OF PETERSON PASSES AWAY
Funeral services for Mrs. Dayton Hall, who passed away at her home in Peterson Saturday, October 24th, were held in the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon. Reverend Forrest Flowers officiated.
Mrs. Loren Reed and Lois Matson, accompanied by Mrs. Wayne Stone at the piano sang three songs.
The pall bearers were Lee Brown, Wendell Brown, Harry Brown, Earl Tuttle, Rex Brown and Wayne Brown.
Obituary
Rose Amanda Brown was one of the ten children born to Henry and Mary Jane Brown. She was born at Albia, Iowa, on March 4, 1861, and she passed away at her home in Peterson on October 24, 1942 at the mature age of 81 years, 7 months, and 20 days.
She was united in marriage to Dayton Hall of Parkersburg, Iowa on June 23, 1884. Three children were born to this union; one daughter, Mabel, not Mrs. Charles Lee of Moorhead, Iowa; and two sons, Guy who passed away at the age of 3 and Ray of Peterson.
She leaves to mourn her passing her grief stricken companion of 58 yars, Mr. Dayton Hall of Peterson; one daughter, Mrs. Charles Lee of Moorhead, Iowa, and one son, Ray of Peterson. She leaves 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving to mourn the death of their sister are four brothers and one sister: Will Brown of near Peterson; Herb of Billings, Montana; Frank of Cherokee; Fred off Corvallis, Oregon; and Pearl, now Mrs. Lon Holden of Union, Iowa. Preceding her in death are one sister, Mabel who passed away at the age of 16 and three brothers, Narley, Francis, and Charlie who died in infancy.
Mrs. Hall was received into the membership of the Methodist church in Peterson on September 19, 1924 by the Rev. G.W. Barnes, and she always lived a good Christian life.
On June 23 this year, Mr. and Mrs. Hall celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. They lived in Peterson 55 years of this time.
Mrs. Hall was a kindly wife, mother, and neighbor whose happiest moments were those when she could do some deed of kindness to others. A wide circle of sorrowing relatives and friends join with the family in mourning her passing.
