September 30, 2006Roland Chamberlain, 97, died Saturday, September 30, 2006 at the Spencer Hospital. He resided at the St. Luke Lutheran Home since September of 2005
Services will be Thursday, October 5, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Union Memorial Church in Milford. Rev, Paul Hansen will officiate
Pallbearers; Benjamin Alspach, Dennis Hussey, Roger Heikens, David Kaus, Steven Titterington, Timothy Tittetington
Interment will take place in North Lawn Cemetery
Roland Lang Chamberlain was born to Clarence and Hattie Reunion Chamberlain on September 3, 1909 in Meadow Township near Langdon. He attended rural school in Meadow Township and graduated from Spencer High School
On April 7, 1937, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Nitzsche at her parents home near Langdon. They farmed near Langdon and Terril before purchasing a farm west of Milford in 1949. They retired from farming and moved to Milford in 1972.
He then worked at Nelson Construction Company, Methodist Camp and Brooks Golf Course
They retired to the Highlands at Spencer in 1994
Roland was a member of the Union Memorial Church. He was also a member of Milford Kiwanis and served on the Milford Community School and Board, Fostoria Coop Creamery Board and C.D. Farm Service Board in Spencer
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harold; and two sisters, Hazel Jones and Carol Conlon
Roland is survived by his wife, Dorothy Chamberlain of Spencer; daughter, Arlene DeVries and her husband, Fred of Des Moines; son, Roger Chamberlain and his wife, Barbara of Denver, Colorado; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and his sister in law, Ruth Kaus of Spencer
Turner Funeral Home of Milford was in charge of arrangements
