May 11, 1994Ruth Carpenter, 87, Spencer died Wednesday, May 11 at Spencer Municipal Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 16 at First Baptist Church, Spencer with the Rev. Wayne Peterson officiating.
Casket Bearers' Glenda Gustin, Dr. Randy Hanson, LTC Weldon Flaharty, Stan Flaharty, Rhonda Clancey, Dan Flaharty, Barbara Raydon, Mark Carpenter, Robert Carpenter and Larry Flaharty..
Honorary Casket Bearers were members of her Berean Sunday School Class.
Burial was in North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer.
Ruth Lillian Carpenter, the daughter of Robert and Mary Alice Coake Foster, was born May 8, 1907, in Henning, Illinois. She received her early education in Sanborn.
On March 4, 1923 she married Clarence (Paul) Carpenter in Emmetsburg. Following their marriage, the couple made their home on a farm near Dickens, where they farmed for several years. In 1973, the couple to Spencer.
She was member of the First Baptist Church, Spencer, where she was active in the Missionary Circle and the Berean Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Carpenter was precede in death by her parents, her husband, one grandchild, two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by one son, Paul Carpenter, Jr. and his wife, Shirley of Cedar Rapids; three daughters; Grace Bryce and her husband, Jeff of Citrus Heights, California; Iris Hanson and her husband Gerald of Spencer and Joyce Flaharty and her husband, Paul of Dickens; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one sister, Nellie Hart of Waterloo.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of arrangements.
