October 6, 2005Funeral services for Paul L. Carpenter, 81, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Dickens, will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Bart DeBoer will officiate the service.
Burial will take place at North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer.
Paul was born November 26, 1923 in Madison, Missouri to Clarence Paul and Ruth Lillian Foster.
He married Shirley Glee Harris on October 25, 1942 in Ponca, Nebraska. Shirley died November 14, 2003.
Paul worked in the elevator department at Quarker Oats for 22 years retiring in 1987.
He grew up in Dickens area and graduated from Dickens High School in 1942.
He served in the US Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Barry and a sister, Grace.
Survivors include two sons; Mark and his wife, Cindy and Robert all of Cedar Rapids, a daughter, Glenda Gustin and her husband, Duane of Dickens, two sisters; Iris Hanson and her husband, Jerry of Spencer and Joyce Flaharty and husband Paul of Dickens, seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
Warner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
