George Klaas Succumbs To Long Illness

George Klaas, a resident of the Peterson community for forty-one years, passed away at his home in this city about six-thirty o'clock Sunday evening after a long illness. He was seventy-eight years old at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held in the Congregational church this (Wednesday) afternoon and were conducted by Rev. Charles A. Hyde of Peterson, former pastor of the church. Burial was in Oakland cemetery and the Masonic lodge was in charge of the services at the grave.

Mr. Klaas, the son of Adolph Klaas and Emaline Goth Klaas, was born at Samanauk, Illinois, on January 7, 1864. He farmed in this community before retiring and moving into Peterson to live.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, Harry of Chicago, Fred of Laurens, and Roy of Two Harbors, Minnesota, and four daughters, Mrs. J.J. Kist of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Harry Meinking of Chicago, Mrs. Albert Ainley of Sioux Rapids, and Mrs. Arthur Larson of Cicero, Illinois. One daughter, Mrs. Will Prew, preceded him in death.
