November 1, 1981Services for Elsie May Cogdill, 86, of Spencer, will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Warner Chapel. Dr. J. Landon Williams will officiate.
Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery in Spencer.
Casket Bearers; Gene Williams, Irvin Williams, George Williams, Keith Cogdill, Kent Smith and Tom Smith.
Cogdill, the daughter of Lee and Minnie Harris Smith, was born April 3, 1895 in Pawnee City, Nebraska. She received her education in that community and married Harry Cogdill on November 8, 1911 in Stanberry, Missouri.
They lived there until 1915, when they moved to Royal, later farming in the Everly and Ruthven areas. the Cogdills returned to Royal in 1948.
Her husband died in 1956, and Cogdill moved to Spencer, where she was a member of the First Christian Church. She had been a resident of Longhouse since 1973.
Cogdill died Sunday at the Spencer Municipal Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Laura.
Survivors include two sons, William Harry Cogdill of Shenandoah and Donald Earl Cogdill of Tacoma, Washington; two daughters, Mrs. Helen LaVonne Van Valin of Phoenix, Arizona and Mrs. Laura Lee Dobbins of Spencer; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and one brother, Raymond Smith of Weslaco, Texas.
The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of the service arrangements.
