April 28, 1976Funeral services for Guy Elmer Chalfant, 81, of Spencer who died April 28 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Warner Chapel. the Rev. Harold Lovestrand will officiate.
Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
Bearers; Marion Ibel, William Koenig Sr., Sonny Culver, Leland Thuirer, W.B. Brinkley and Larry McVicker.
Guy Elmer Chalfant was born December 4, 1894 at Webb, the son of John and Christana Phillips Chalfant. He was married to Elizabeth Lau on August 23, 1916 at Walnut Grove, Minnesota.
He grew up in the Webb community and received his education in that country schools. He spent the majority of his life farming in the Gillett Grove and Greenville communities. In 1949 he retired from farming and moved to a dairy farm which he operated near Boise, Idaho in 1952. In 1971, Mr. Chalfant moved from the farm to Boise. After he was married to Blanche Stinemetz in May 1973, they returned to Spencer where they have since made their home.
He is survived by his wife; one stepson, Darold Worley of Denver, Colorado and a step daughter, Mrs. Maxine Shipley of Denver, Colorado; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Chalfant of Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elizabeth in 1971; two brothers, Silas and John; four sisters, Phoebe, Lottie, Dollie and Maggie.
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Boise and the Eagles.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
