Services for Fredrick Gustaf Carlson, 84 of Spencer will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the First English Lutheran Church. Pastor Ronald Meyer will officiate and burial will be in the North Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Carlson died July 20 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital.

Bearers; Norman Nygaard, Loren Reed, Ed Roskens, Bob Swanson, Monte Johnson, Ray Freeburg.

Honorary Bearers; Ossie Ringsig, Melvin Straub, Jack Flipsey, Ernest Kreb, Duane Jipson, Wilson Cornwall, Kenneth Nattress and John Binder.

Mr. Carlson was born August 12, 1893 in Riverton Township, the son of William and Ada Isaacson Carlson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lincoln Lutheran Church. He received his early education in the Clay County Schools and later attended Gustavus Adolphus College and the Minneapolis Business College.

He served with the military during World War I and was on active duty for 18 months in France.

He married Eleanor T. Peterson on March 24, 1921 in Royal. They farmed in Clay County until his retirement in 1954 when they moved to Spencer.

He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, the National Layman's League, he served as a director and agent for Clay County Mutual Insurance Company for 38 years and was a member of the Clay County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his widow, Eleanor of Spencer; two sons, Lowell of Dickens and Ronald of Spencer; nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Erwin; one sister, Esther; three brothers, Ivan, Elmer and Leonard.

The Warner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
