A funeral service for Herman J. Buren, 88, of Spencer will be held August 10, 2001 at 10 a.m. at the Warner Funeral Home Chapel in Spencer. The Rev. Roger Maize will officiate.

Mr. Buren died at Longhouse Residence in Spencer on Tuesday, August 7.

Casket Bearers; Scott Buren, Jess Buren, Scot Francis, Walt Buren, Chris Francis.

Interment will be at North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer.

Herman J. Buren, the son of John and Adriana Dorsman Buren was born March 30, 1913 in Alton. His childhood years were spent in Newkirk where he received his early education.

He married Jennie Hoogeterp on March 23, 1938 in Newkirk. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Everly and Royal areas. After farming for several years, he worked at the Verneer Plant in Spencer. He also did volunteer work for the Clay County Fair and the senior center.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Royal.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Survivors include four sons and their wives; Clifford and Pam of Richland, Nebraska, Daniel and Patty of Applegate, Oregon, Michael and Cindy of Royal, and Robert Buren and Colleen Grier of Garden City, Kansas; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Gerald Buren of Sanborn; one sister, Jeanette Burn of Sanborn; other relatives and friends.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
