August 5, 2000A funeral service for Helen Brinkley, 79, Gillett Grove, will he held at 10:30 a.m., August 8, 2000 at Warner Chapel in Spencer. The Rev. Elliott Butler III will officiate.
Interment will be at North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer.
Casket Bearers: Jerry Gross, Bill Weter, Bill Lawson, David Koons, Gary Lane and Larry Salton.
Honorary Casket Bearers: All of her friends.
Mrs. Brinkley died Saturday, August 5, 2000 at the Ruthven Care Center, Ruthven.
Helen L. Brinkley, daughter of John William and Mary Pearl Rose Lane was born October 7, 1920 in rural Webb. Her childhood years were spent in rural Webb, where she received her education at Garfield Country Schools. She later attended and graduated from Webb High School in 1938. Following her schooling, she worked at a hardware store in Webb.
On February 14, 1946, she married William Bryon Brinkley in Spencer. Throughout their marriage, they lived in the Gillett Grove community, where they farmed for many years.
She attended Gillett Grove United Methodist Church and was active with Loganette Club and Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Burdette.
Mrs. Brinkley is survived by one son, Wyatt of Dickens; one daughter and her husband, Alene and Mark Peters of Hartley; one grandson; four sisters, Velda Wolff of Newton, Erma and her husband Hugh Westercamp of Newton, Gwen Howe of Sibley and Garner and her husband, Robert Vierow of Marathon, other relatives and friends.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
