Rites Set Friday for City Women

Mrs. F.F. Borchard, 59, 712 East Fourth Street, fied in the Spencer Municipal Hospital Wednesday morning. She had entered the hospital Tuesday for a voluntary checkup and suffered a heart attack last night.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Grace Methodist Church. Rev. L.H. Preul will officiate and interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Borchard is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Joan Richards of Spencer, Mrs. Shirley Thomson of Oelwein and Mrs. Phyllis Owens of South Bend, Indiana and two sons, Howard Borchard of Hartley and Dale Borchard of Oklahoma City. There are nine grandchildren.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1950 and a son, Walter, died last year.

Martha Caroline, daughter of John and Ella Ferdiandsen was born July 24, 1895 at Thief River Falls, Minnesota and died on May 18, 1955 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital, after a brief illness a the age of 59 years, 9 months and 24 days.

She grew to womanhood and received her education in the schools of Thief River Falls, Minnesota.

On December 31, 1914, she was united in marriage to Frank F. Borchard at Thief River Falls. To this union six children were born. The family resided at Ashton, Milford and Spencer. In 1944 they moved from the farm to Spencer.

She was a good mother, neighbor and friend. Always ready to lend a helping hand whenever and wherever a need presented itself. She was a faithful and loyal member of Grace Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her immediate family, namely; Phyllis (Mrs. Lee Owens), Dale, Joan, (Mrs. Gene Richards), Shirley, (Mrs. Gordon Thomsen) and Howard. Nine grandchildren, four sisters and three brothers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on May 26, 1950, and her son, Walter, on October 29, 1954.

Services were held Friday, May 20, at 2 p.m. in the Grace Methodist Church with Rev. L.H. Preul officiating.

Pallbearers: W.L. Carver, James Olson, Herbert Safley, Vernon Dale Olson, Floyd Fisk and Floyd Breidenger.

Interment was at North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer.
