August 12, 1999Mary Blue, 80, died Thursday, August 12, 1999 at St. Luke Lutheran Home, Spencer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spencer, with Father Roger Linnan officiating.
Casket Bearers; Greg White, Keith Cook, Herb Eilers, John Davies, Larry Anderson and Jim Wiese.
Burial will be held at the North Lawn Memorial Park
Mary Parks Blue, the daughter of Bernard and Adah Brisban Parks, was born August 31, 1918 in Spencer and attended and graduated from Spencer High School.
In 1942, she married Henry Cate in Spencer. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer where she worked as a saleslady for Davies, Cragins, Pooles, Gambles and Bjonstad's.
In 1947, she married Charles Blue in Omaha, Nebraska. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Spencer. She worked as Hostess for The New Inn and was the manager for The Stamp Store for nine years and Clay County Fair office for eight years, retiring in 1982.
Mary was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Sociey, the AARP, the Women of the Moose and the RSVP.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and one son.
Mrs. Blue is survived by one son; Dennis Cate and his wife, Joan of Spencer; step children; Ann Mathews of Des Moines; Lance Blue of Newport Beach, California; Charles Blue of Saudia Arabia; three grandchildren; Mary Wiese and her husband, Jim of Mankato, Minnesota; Cheri Baker of Storm Lake and Dan Cate of Mountain Lake, Minnesota; 10 step grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren; and two very special friends, Robert Cate and Ron Kaufman.
