Orval Emmet Beck, 78, West Lake Okoboji, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998 at Briar Cliff Rehabilitation Center, McAllen, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Warner Chapel, Spencer.

Casket Bearers: Dave Krugman, Ron Knapp, Kent Langenfeld, Loren Bosma, Larry Allen, Cliff Hepworth.

Burial will be at North Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Spencer.

Orval Emmet Beck, son of Peter and Emma Johnson Beck, was born September 21, 1919 in Royal and it was from there he graduated from high school.

On February 16, 1941, he married Alberta Hoffert in Hawarden. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in the Royal area for 20 yers. They moved to Sibley starting Sibley Steel Building and Supply which he ran until his retirement in 1983 and continued to farm. The couple then moved to West Lake Okoboji where they lived for the past 20 years.

Mr. Beck was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.

He is survived by his wife; two sons; Jerry and Mary Beck of Spencer; and Jim and Muriel Beck of Bedford, Texas; a daughter, Judy Chambers and her husband, Mike of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Howard Beck of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Homer Beck of Tampa, Florida and two sisters; Mary Ashton of Baytown, Texas and Doris Hausmann of Royal.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of arrangements.
