January 20, 2002Edith Bendlin, 99, Spencer, died Sunday, January 20, 2002 at the Longhouse Residence in Spencer.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, January 24 at the First English Lutheran Church of Spencer with Rev. Paul Kaldahl officiating.
Casket Bearers: Bob Bendlin, Don Bendlin, Ron Muetzel, Larry Bendlin, Gary Wolthuis and Bob Zinn.
Burial will be held at the North Lawn Memorial Park of Spencer
Edith Helen Bendlin, the daughter of Jacob and Christian Johanson Nelson was born July 4, 1902 in Terril. Her childhood years were spent in Terril where she received her education attending country schools.
On March 5, 1924, Edith married Chris Bendlin in Spencer. Throughout most of her life, Edith and Chris farmed in the Fostoria and Dickens areas. In 1972, Chris and Edith moved to Spencer where they made their home.
Edith was a longtime member of the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and one brother.
Mrs. Bendlin is survived by her daughter, Violet Reason of Spencer; three grandchildren; Barb Muetzel and her husband, Ron of Spencer; Linda Zinn and her husband, Bob of Ankeny; and Bev Hummell and her husband, Mike of Grand Island, Nebraska; one brother, William Nelson of Dawson, Minnesota; seven great grandchildren and other relatives.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of arrangements.
