Services for Lottie Bittinger, 91, Spencer, will be Saturday, at 11 a.m. at Warner Chapel in Spencer. The Rev. Richard L. Pearson officiating.

Casket Bearers; David Lovitt, Gene (Randy) Lovitt, David Crew, Wayne Lovitt, Shawn Mathis and Roger Crew.

Burial will be in North Lawn, Spencer.

Mrs. Bittinger died Wednesday, June 6, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer.

The daughter of Louis and Belle (Bergeson) Starkey, she was born August 7, 1897 in Lane, South Dakota. Her family moved to the Terril community when she was a child and later to Moberly, Missouri. They returned to Terril and she was educated in the Terril Schools.

After graduating from high school, she attended Ellsworth Junior College and Iowa State University. She received her teacher's certificate and taught in country schools in Palo Alto County and Lincoln School in Spencer until 1923.

On August 9, 1922, she married Clarence Bittinger in Spencer. Throughout their marriage, they lived in Spencer, where Mrs. Bittinger was active in the community.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women and taught Sunday School for many years. She had been a member of Eastern Star. She also enjoyed playing the piano and violin and painting.

Mrs. Bittinger was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters; and one brother.

She is survived by one son and his wife, C. Winton and Darlene of Tempe, Arizona; two daughters and their husbands, Clarian and Bud Lovitt of Spencer and Marian and Lee Heike of Waukon; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandson.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
