May 19, 1987Services for Chris Godfrey Bendlin, 86, of Spencer, will be 11 a.m., May 22, at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. The Rev. Keith Kohlmeier will officiate.
Casket Bearers; Leland Chamberlain, Gary Kuiper, Virgil Bendlin, Les Moding, Don Bendlin and Floyd Breidinger.
Burial in North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer.
Mr. Bendlin died May 19 at Longhouse Residence.
The son of William and Matilda (Berg) Bendlin, he was born December 18, 1900 in Illinois. His family moved to the Manson, Iowa area when he was young and it was in the community where her received his early education.
He married Edith Nelson, March 5, 1924 in Spencer. They farmed in the Fostoria and Dickens areas most of his life. They moved to Spencer in 1972. He has lived at Longhouse Residence since March 28.
Mr. Bendlin was a longtime member of First English Lutheran Church. He worked as a policeman at the Clay County Fair for 47 years. He also worked at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Violet Reason of Spencer; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Fred of Whittier, California; and a sister, Alma Lacey of Spencer.
Warner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
