November 30, 1983Peter J. Behrens, 85, of Spencer, formerly of Greenville, died November 30, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m., December 2, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. The Rev. George Jacobson will officiate
Casket Bearers; Dan Stricker, John Olson, Gary Kuiper, Denny Nissen, Jim Greene and Donald Schoer
Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer
The son of Matthias and Louise (Gerlitzski). His early years were spent in Germany where he received his schooling and where he attended a vocational school in carpentry.
He served in the German Army during World War I
Mr. Behrens came to America in 1923 and settled in the Moneta area, where he farmed for many years.
He served in the Army during World War II. After his dicharged, Mr. Behrens returned to the Moneta area where he farmed until he moved to Greenville in 1949
He married Gladys Olson, June 4,1956, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. He continued to farming in Greenville until he retired in 1964. They moved to Spencer in 1976
Mr. Behrens was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Legion, Glen Pedersen Post No. 1
Survivors include his wife; a step daughter, Nancy Taylor, of Spencer; two grandchildren; and a half sister, Alwine Peters of Burnsbuttel, Germany
Warner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements
