February 21, 1981Services for Merrill Raymond Banks, 89, of Fostoria who died February 21 at the Longhouse Residence, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church. Dr. J. Landon Williams will officiate.
Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
Banks was born November 5, 1891 at Stone Valley, Illinois, the son of George and Eliza (Runion) Banks. He moved to Clay County at an early age with his parents and received his education in Clay County Schools. He then started farming in this county and continued until his retirement in 1957 when he moved to Fostoria.
He was married to Lena Bell Case on February 26, 1913 at Spencer and she died in 1967. He was married to Myrtle Birchard in 1968 at Arnolds Park.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Spencer.
Banks is survived by his wife Myrtle of Spencer; one son, Raymond of Spencer; two daughters, Mrs. Harley (Merlene) Somers of Iantha, Missouri; Mrs. Art (Helen) Brigham of Everly; six grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Bunker of Toledo.
The Warner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
