Agnes Alvena Krager, the daughter of John and Elsie (Schuster) Brandt, was born November 23, 1918, in Osceola County near Melvin, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Melvin school district where she received her early education.

Agnes married Edwin Krager on October 15, 1940, in Sibley, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in the Hartley area where she assisted her husband in farming in O'Brien and Clay Counties.

In 1952, they moved to rural Spencer where they continued to farm. In 1966, they moved into Spencer where she assisted her husband in his painting business and janitorial work until their retirement in 1986.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley, Iowa. She loved spending time with family and friends, who all enjoyed her wonderful cooking.

Agnes passed away at Prairie View Home in Sanborn, Iowa, on Monday, March 25, 2013, at the age of 94.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin in 1989; three sisters: Betty Brandt, Margaret (Richard) Dagel and Lois (Dean) Luton; five brothers: Arnold (Kathryn), Bill, Lloyd, Arlin and John Brandt, Jr., and one brother-in-law, Wallace Tesch.

Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Violet Ostermann and husband, Vern of Mesa, AZ; one sister, Dorothy Tesch of Paullina, IA; one brother, Harold Brandt and wife, Francine of Sanborn, IA; three sisters-in-law: Ruth Brandt of Sheldon, IA, Deltha Brandt of Sanborn, IA, and Ilene Brandt of Sanborn, IA; 4 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
